PNG Chief Justice prepares to retire

The Chief Justice of Papua New Guinea Sir Mari Kapi is to retire at the end of the month.

The National newspaper reports Sir Mari is quitting early because of ill health.

Sir Mari was appointed Chief Justice in 2003, replacing Sir Arnold Amet.

Deputy Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia, has been acting Chief Justice and will continue in that role until Cabinet makes a new appointment to the post.
