Worker breaches Solomons airport security

Solomon Islands police have arrested and questioned a man who walked in front of a jet, taxing towards the Honiara International airport earlier this week.

The Pacific Magazine reports the man, a construction worker, had a pass to enter the airport's restricted area zone but has told police he didn't know it was dangerous to walk in front of a moving jet.

The incident happened on Monday as a SkyAirWorld plane approached the terminal.

Witnesses say the man took his time and crossed the tarmac like he was crossing the road.

Authorities released him and he escaped a hefty fine.
