Solomons considers High Commission in Suva

Updated August 14, 2008 11:06:46

The Solomon Islands government says it plans to open up a high commission office in Fiji shortly.

The Solomons under secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Seda Fifi'i, has told the Fiji Times extra funding from the government has paved the way forward for the establishment of the office.

He says the office will bring the government closer, not only to the Fijian government and people, but also to all the major donor agencies located in Suva.

Suva has one of the highest concentrations of Solomon Islanders living overseas and Mr Fifi'i says the high commission office should be operational within the next few months.
