Fiji petrol prices set for fall

Petrol prices in Fiji are expected to fall tomorrow after the interim government approved a reduction in the tax it charges on its sales.
Our Pacific correspondent Campbell Cooney reports the decision of Fiji's Prices and Incomes Board, endorsed by the interim Cabinet, to reduce duty on fuel is expected to see a drop in the price of petrol at the bowser of approximately, $US0.07, from its current rate of around $US1.54 per litre Fijian currency.
In its statement the interim government says as well, its expects diesel to go from $US1.50 to $US1.43.
The increase in the world price of oil has had a serious affect in the Pacific, where most nations rely on imports, and leaders have raised concerns about the impact on food, transport and power costs.
