Australian league to try to stop Williams

Updated August 14, 2008 16:09:28

Australia's National Rugby League will file a motion for contempt of court if Sonny Bill Williams plays for the French Rugby Union club, Toulon, again tomorrow.

The NRL returned to the New South Wales Supreme Court today, in its case against Williams, who last week defied an Australian court order banning him from playing in Europe.

The 23-year-old Samoan signed with Toulon last month, despite having four years left on his contract with the Bulldogs in Australia.

The matter will return to court next month, but could be heard earlier if Williams breaches the order.
