Australian activists fined for damaging ship
Updated
Ten Greenpeace activists charged with vandalising coal ships, have appeared in a magistrates court in Australia's east coast town of Cairns.
The group were given six-month good behaviour bonds and were each fined $US97, but no convictions were recorded.
Each person also had to pay $US240 restitution to police for costs incurred during their arrests.
They were detained two weeks ago after painting climate-change slogans on ships waiting to dock at the port of Mackay.
