Taiwan's former president Chen Shui-bian has quit the Democratic Progressive Party after money laundering allegations against him and his family were launched by the government.
This follows an appeal for help from Swiss prosecutors, who are investigating suspected money-laundering by Mr Chen's son, Chen Chih-chung and daughter-in-law Huang Jui-ching.
Swiss documents show that some $US 31 million were transferred to Ms Huang's Swiss bank accounts last year.
The former president was questioned on Tuesday for alleged embezzelment of special funds during his time in office.
He says some $US 20 million from his campaign funds were wired overseas, but rejects any money laundering allegations.
