A New Zealand man accused of swindling Aussie Home Loans boss John Symonds out of $US 232,000 dollars has been arrested in Aceh in Indonesia following an extradition request from Australia.

Our reporter in Indonesia, Geoff Thompson, says Robert James McNeice, 42, is being transported to Jakarta.

McNeice has been in and out of Indonesia in recent years and become involved in Aceh's coffee business.

But his past life in Australia is now the subject of serious allegations from Aussie Home Loans boss John Symond who has accused him of swindling he and his nephew out of $US 232,000 borrowed to invest in a wristwatch business in 2003.

McNiece fled Australia in 2005 and following a request from Australia he was arrested on Wednesday in Banda Aceh by Indonesian police, says Aceh's head of criminal investigations Colonel Syaiful Maltah.

"That suspect has already been sent to Jakarta right now."

Mr McNeice told police he was only in Aceh for "sightseeing".
