India's top medical facility will investigate the deaths of 49 babies during clinical trials.
An official from the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences says all the babies died over the past two and a half years.
It's the country's biggest hospital, where thousands go for free medical treatment.
The New Delhi hospital says more than 4,000 babies took part in the clinical trials, half of them under the age of one.
Details of the exact nature of the clinical trials have not been made public.
A five-member inquiry committee has been asked to submit its findings within a week.
