International troops target Islamic militants in Pakistan

Eight people have been killed in South Waziristan, Pakistan following a missile strike fired from Afghanistan.

Pakistani security officials say two missiles fired from Afghanistan destroyed a house in the town of Wana.
Recent attacks in the area have been attributed to US-led forces or the CIA.
This is the first attack targeting Islamic militants in Pakistan since key US ally Pervez Musharraf resigned as president of Pakistan.
Earlier this week, 10 French soldiers were killed in an ambush by Taliban insurgents near Kabul.
This attack prompted Afghan president Hamid Karzai to urge international forces to crack down on safe havens in Pakistan and stop militants launching attacks on Afghanistan.
