Britain's foreign ministry says former rock star and convicted paedophile Gary Glitter has left Bangkok on a flight to London.
The 64-year-old, real name Paul Francis Gadd, was deported from Vietnam on Tuesday after serving two years and nine months in jail for molesting two underage girls.
Vietnam tried to send him back to Britain, via Bangkok, but once he arrived in Thailand Mr Gadd refused to board his connecting flight, saying he was ill.
He was then refused entry by Thailand and Hong Kong.
A spokesman for the British Embassy in Bangkok says Mr Gadd is a free citizen and that the British Foreign Office has no legal authority to control his movements.
