Australian man in court for drug trafficking
Updated
An Australian man has been committed to stand trial in the Northern Territory Supreme Court, charged with smuggling drugs from Indonesia.
43-year-old Mehmet Seriban is charged with importing a commercial quantity of pseudoephedrine.
At a committal hearing in the Darwin Magistrates Court today, three Indonesian police officers gave evidence from Indonesia via videolink.
The officers were involved in the surveillance of Seriban when he was in Surabaya in January.
The officer in charge admitted he didn't see Seriban breaking the law.
But the officer said police were suspicious when they found documents in his hotel room which showed a location in Australia with detailed geographical co-ordinates.
Seriban will stand trial next month.
