Indonesia's 'Tree Man' returns home following surgery
Updated
An Indonesian villager dubbed "Tree Man" for extensive bark-like warts on his body has returned home after surgeons removed six kilograms of them.
Dede, aged 37 from rural West Java, suffered nine months of operations to remove the woody growths that smothered his hands and feet.
He hopes to return to normal life after decades burdened by the growths that left him unable to move and work.
A US dermatologist discovered the warts grew out of control because of a supressed immune reponse.
