Authorities are retrieving wreckage from a Philippine air force C-130 transport plane has crashed in the south of the country.

There were nine people aboard.

From Manila, Shirely Escalante reports the Philippine Air Force says plane debris, body parts, IDs, and pilot manuals were found on the shoreline of Davao City.

This was where the military plane was believed to have crashed last night en route to the central Philippine city of Iloilo where it was supposed to pick up members of the Presidential Security Group.

The plane's two pilots and seven crew have been reported missing.

Rescuers have recovered a body believed to be that of a crew member.

The Air Force chief, Pedrito Cadungog, says he is not ruling out the possibility of an attack by the rebel Moro Islamic Liberation Front amid continuing offensives in the south.
