Brazil's Foreign Minister is beginning a two-day visit to New Zealand for talks on trade, the environment and a range of other issues.

Celso Amorim is due to meet his New Zealand counterpart, Winston Peters, during his Auckland stay, along with the prime minister, Helen Clark, and the trade mininster, Phil Goff.

The Brazilian minister's visit will see the two countries sign a conservation cooperation agreement, and there'll also be the launch of a working holdiday scheme allowing hundreds of young New Zealanders and Brazilians to travel and work in each other's country.
