A court in Bangladesh has acquitted six convicted murderers in a politically sensitive case that's gripped the nation for more than three decades.

The men, among 21 who were initially charged, were convicted in 2004 in a case known as the "Jail Killings".

The victims were all killed while behind bars.

Speaking in the capital Dhaka, the assistant attorney general says two people on death row have been cleared of the charges and another four serving life sentences have also been acquitted.
