US military refutes civilian casualty claims
Updated
The United States military has disputed claims that 96 civilians were killed in an air strike last month.
The Afghan government and United Nations carried out investigations after the attack on the 22nd of November.
Both bodies concluded more than 90 people died.
However, the US military says its own investigation into the incident in Herat found only 5 to 7 civilians and up to 35 Taliban fighters died.
Public anger has been mounting in recent days in Afghanistan over allegations of civilian casualties, including children.
President Hamid Karzai, under increasing pressure to stop civilian casualties, called for a review of combat operations by foreign forces following the air strikes in Herat.
