US soft drinks giant Coca-Cola says it plans to buy Chinese juice maker Huiyuan Juice Group.

The $US2.4 billion deal would be its biggest acquisition in China.

Coca-Cola says it will offer $1.6-per-share in Hong Kong-listed Huiyuan.

It says three shareholders holding a total of 66 per cent in the company have accepted the offer.

Coca-Cola says it intends for Huiyuan, one of China's best-known juice brands, to carry on its business, but that it will later review its operations and look for synergies.
