South Korea expresses regret over Buddhism bias
Updated
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has expressed regret that government officials may have been biased against Buddhists.
The cabinet has also passed a legal amendment requiring officials to be religiously neutral in their official duties.
This follows a demonstration by tens of thousands of Buddhist monks a fortnight ago to protest against alleged government bias against their religion.
They accused Mr Lee of violating the constitutional requirement of separating church and state.
