Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim claims he has enough support to topple the government and wants to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss a handover.
After landmark March elections that saw the opposition dramatically increase its seats in parliament, Dr Anwar set a September the 16th deadline to oust the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition.
He persuaded at least 30 lawmakers to defect.
Dr Anwar told a rally of ten thousand supporters in Kuala Lumpur his Keadilan party has the numbers to defeat Barisan Nasional.
He says today is D day.
Dr Anwar says his representatives have delivered a letter to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi demanding a meeting and the handover of power.
