French Polynesia president thanks France over pirate rescue

French Polynesia's President Gaston Tong Sang has officially thanked French President Nicolas Sarkozy after the successful rescue of a couple held hostage by Somalian pirates in waters of Eastern Africa.
The Oceania newsagency reports the retired French couple who now live in French Polynesia were delivering a luxury yacht to a European client when they were taken captive on September 2nd.
French commandoes rescued the couple on Tuesday and also regained control of the vessel.
