France boosts Afghanistan military commitment
Updated
The French government has announced that it will boost its commitment in Afghanistan.
Our Europe correspondent, Emma Alberici, reports after last month's Taliban ambush which saw the loss of 10 French soldiers, the French government has reasserted itself in Afghanistan.
It responded by increasing its commitment with the addition of helicopters, drones and 100 more troops to back up its 2600 strong force.
The ambush near Kabul on August 18 was one of the deadliest attacks on foreign troops in Afghanistan, and sparked a debate over President Nicolas Sarkozy's decision to boost France's Afghan contingent.
