Burma calls for lifting of sanctions

Burma's foreign minister Nyan Win has called for the lifting of what he called "unwarranted" and "counter-productive" Western sanctions against his country.
He told the UN General Assembly, the sanctions imposed by the European Union and the United States were not only unfair but immoral
The sanctions were imposed on Burma's military regime for its refusal to release political prisoners, including democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi, and end repression of minority groups.
