Internet phone service admits China service monitoring messages

Internet telephone service Skype, has admitted its China venture had been monitoring and storing some of its users' text messages without Skype's knowledge.

Skype apologized after a report revealed the Web service monitors text chats with politically sensitive keywords.

The report also revealed the texts and millions of personal user records were stored on computers easily accessible to anybody, including the Chinese government.

Skype says the privacy breach has now been fixed.
