Aus retirees forced to work due to financial crisis

There are reports that some people in Australia are being forced out of retirement and into the job market because of the global financial crisis.

Bob Olivier runs a recruitment agency than also also monitors job ads placed online.

He says he's knows of retirees coming back into the workforce because their superannuation has decreased due to recent stockmarket tumbles.

"People tell you their stories... and I think the conversations have moved from the value of your home to how much you've lost in your superannuation and what your'e going to do about it," he said.

Combined Pensioners and Superannuants Association spokeswoman, Meg Lee, says getting a job is a good idea.

"It seems to me very sensible rather than depleting their superannuation savings," she said.

She says many self-funded retirees are also applying for the pension.
