Trading hours extended in NT for Masters Games
Updated
The Northern Territory Licensing Commission has extended trading hours for about 20 Alice Springs venues during the Masters Games.
Thousands of people are expected to arrive in Alice Springs over the next few days to compete in the week-long sporting event.
The regional executive officer for licensing Chris McIntyre says existing alcohol restrictions and the identification requirements will stay in place during the week.
But he says some bars, sporting clubs and restaurants will have more flexible arrangements.
"Some of the places like the casino have asked to extend their hours," Mr McIntyre.
"Other organisations like the Overlander steakhouse have asked for variations, Elkira motel, a number of commercial venues have asked and we've sort of weighed it up and providing we're happy that measures are in place, we've gone along those lines."
