Australian gambling body seeks ban on addicts
Updated
The association repesenting gambling outlets in Australia, Club Australia, has submitted a proposal to the government that would allow them to ban certain people with gambling problems at the request of their families.
The radical proposal is part of a six-point plan that is based on legislation already in place in the state of South Australia.
Clubs Australia president, Peter Newell, says families have a right to be heard if they're being affected by a loved one's difficulties with gambling.
"They should have a right to approach a venue and that venue in turn again without any fear of privacy issues should have the right to approach a particular patron and as difficult as that might be at times discuss the families concerns."
