Eight thousand US marines and their dependants are to be relocated from Okinawa to the US Pacific territory of Guam in about five years. To prepare for their arrival, a massive construction program is about to get underway on Guam. The US Navy is designing environmentally friendly facilities in a major effort to cut energy use, with buildings positioned to
meet silver-certification from the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.
