Criticism of Fiji Police commissioner's ultimatum
Updated
An ultimatum to a group of senior Indo-Fijian police officers by Fiji's Police Commissioner has been criticised as insensitive and unconsitutional. Earlier this week, Commodore Esala Teleni told officers that they could leave the force if they continued to disobey directives. Despite being asked to leave cameras and mobile phones outside the meeting room, a recording of the Commissioners address was televised by Fiji TV. Police have launched an investigation into how the network managed to record the meeting. The leader of Fiji Labour party Mahendra Chaudhry says he's disturbed by the comments made by Commissioner Teleni.
