Mining companies fund reef transplantation in New Caledonia

In New Caledonia, it's hoped that two reef transplantation projects could help protect valuable ecosystems from industrial pollution. The projects are being funded by two of the country's major nickel mining companies at the insistence of the local governments of the country's North and South Provinces. However, experts in the field of marine biology are warning that reef transplantation should only be used to save reefs as a last resort, as Helene Hofman reports.
