Solomons govt dismisses independence for Malaita

The Solomon Islands Deputy Prime Minister, Fred Fono says his government does not recognise the outcome of a survey which found overwhelming support for independence for Malaita Province. Of the 600 Malaitans who took part in the survey, only one person did not agree with the idea of Malaita Province splitting from the rest of Solomon Islands.
