The body which represents Fiji's legal community says the travel bans placed by Australia and New Zealand are making it difficult to attract the calibre of people needed to ensure the independance of the judiciary is maintained. Fiji's interim government is advertising both at home and international media for people interested in sitting on the country's High Court bench. The President of Fiji's Law Society Dorsami Naidu agrees the government's move is an unsual way of appointing people to the bench. He told Michael Cavanagh there is no doubt suitable people have been wary of joining the High Court since the 2006 coup and there needs to be a change in attitude not just by the law society but also government's such as Australia and New Zealand.
