Cyclone Jasper may affect New Caledonia, but avoiding Fiji
Updated
An ABC weather report has caused concern in New Caledonia and Fiji, with Director of the Fiji Meteorological Service in Nadi Rajendra Prasad saying confusion arose when regional jurisdication for Tropical Cyclone Jasper was handed over from the Brisbane Met office to the Fiji Met office in Nadi, which was mistakenly broadcast as warning that the category two Cyclone itself was heading toward Fiji. Mr Prasad says Jasper may affect New Caledonia but is not expected to directly affect the weather in Fiji.
