According to a recent report by the United Nations, human trafficking currently ranks among the world's most thriving criminal activities with an estimated 2.5 million victims at any given time. The Asia Pacific region is seen as the most vulnerable region for trafficking because of its huge population, growing urbanisation, and extensive poverty. FBI Special Agent Brandon Simpson based in the Honolulu Hawaii Division says the Honolulu Police Department has arrested an individual accused of taking part in a human trafficking ring there.
