Vaccinations in Vanuatu to fight cancer causing virus
Updated
Health authorities in Vanuatu have started a program to vaccinate 1,000 girls between the ages of 10 to 12 on the island of Efate, against a virus which can sometimes lead to cervical cancer. The Human Papillomavirus, or HPV, is one of the world's most common sexually transmitted infections. Sometimes carriers show no symptoms at all, but one in 10 cases in Vanuatu can lead to cervical cancer.
