Former Fiji PM says Commodore Bainimarama must be pressured into poll

Fiji's former Prime Minister, Mahendra Chaudry has defied Emergency Regulations to call on the country's interim Government to return to democracy. Most of Fiji's leading political figures have stayed quiet since the 1997 constitution was abolished earlier this month and replaced by a decree banning media coverage of the political situation. However, Mr Chaudry now says the interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainamarama, has moved away from plans to restore democracy and must be pressured to hold elections.
