Devaluation unlikely to help Fiji's sugar crop

Next month Fiji's canegrowers will begin harvesting this year's crop, with the interim Government given a glowing forecast on what will be achieved by the industry this year. But that positive outlook isn't being shared by growers, commentators or analysts who feel increased costs and continuing inefficiency in the country's sugar mills are likely to remove any perceived gains from the recent devaluation of the Fijian dollar.
