Opportunists take advantage of PNG-Asian attacks

Violence across parts of Papua New Guinea throughout the past few weeks is being seen as a backlash against Asian business interests, and in particular Chinese-owned businesses. In Enga's provincial capital, Wabag, crowds took to the streets on Tuesday and looted shops operated by mostly Chinese, Korean and Japanese shopkeepers. Two people were shot dead, several more were injured and taken to hospital. The day after, many of those same businesses were shut. District Administrator Peter Yenge says some of the violence is being stirred up by opportunists.
