Samson and Delilah director pines for home

It's a long way from the dusty streets of the Australian outback near Alice Springs to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, and on Monday morning Aboriginal director, writer and cinematographer Warwick Thornton was feeling the distance. He's being celebrated in Cannes for his movie Samson and Delilah - an odd love story with little dialogue that also reveals the problems of violence, abuse and poverty. The small budget movie has taken out the prestigious Camera d'Or prize for best first film at the Cannes Film Festival on Monday morning - the world largest and most prestigious film festival. But after a week of glitz, glamour and international recognition for his work, Mr Thornton has had enough.
