Australia, Pacific concerned by lax traveller health checks

Australia, with more than 100 confirmed swine flu infections, is struggling to curb community transmissions with a second batch of suspected cases after an outbreak on cruise ship Pacific Dawn. The ship had just returned from Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Neither country has any confirmed cases of the virus, but the New Caledonian Medical Director of the Department of Health and Social Affairs told Radio Australia several cases are being investigated in his country. State governments in Australia continue to also be criticised for the lax procedures of the passenger disembarkation from the Pacific Dawn cruise liner.
