NZ immigration scam caused by desperation
Updated
A fake visa scam targeting Pacific islanders in New Zealand, run by a Maori sovereignty activist, has been criticised by the head of the country's Tongan community. Melino Maka, chairman of the Tongan advisory Council, says many Tongans are buying the visas being sold by Gerrard Otimi - using the name of the Maori Party. But he says the scam is proving effective because many Pacific people are finding the official New Zealand immigration system slow and inefficient.
