Beheading of girl shocks PNG Manam islanders
Updated
Tensions between Papua New Guinea's Manam islanders and mainland villagers frequently erupt into violence, and last week a three-year-old girl became the latest victim of the ongoing conflict. Recently, Pacific Beat reported on the plight of Papua New Guinea's Manam Islanders who were forced from their homes by volcanic eruptions five years ago. They've been wallowing in temporary care centres on the mainland ever since, and say the PNG government has abandoned them.
In a case that's shocked even PNG's crime-hardened residents, the little islander girl was beheaded by a group of men who took her from her mother.
