Cook Isl environment chief takes Greenpeace trip

The Greenpeace ship Esperanza is still anchored in the Cook Islands as part of a month-long tour of the Pacific Islands documenting the impacts of climate change. The Esperanza crew will also visit Samoa and Vanuatu to gauge public opinion on climate change, and meet with Pacific activists and political leaders.

Puka Puka, a remote atoll in the Cooks Islands, was selected for a site specific assessment for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Cook Islands Director of Environment, Vaitoti Tupa, who is the designated government spokesperson, has just returned from Puka Puka with the Greenpeace crew.
