Major Solomons investor threatens pull-out after fire
Updated
One of Solomon Islands' biggest foreign investor in recent years, the PNG-operated Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Limited, is considering pulling out of the country. This follows the burning down of the company's headquarters building was last weekend, the second time in three years.
New Britain Palm Oil Limited-owned Company's Operations Manager, Harry Brock says that any foreign investor would think twice about continuing to do business in a situation like this. The company employees more than 2,000 people and it benefits up to 10,000 other villagers on the Guadalcanal plains. An angry Harry Brock says burning down the office building of one of the main contributors to the Solomon Islands economy is a mindless act.
