Urgent WHO call for healthier Pacific lifestyles

Seventy-five percent of deaths in the Pacific are due to non-communicable diseases. Diabetes, heart disease and obesity are among the leading causes of death world-wide. Specialists and health professionals are gathered in Fiji this week to thrash out ways of controlling the epidemic of noncommunicable diseases. The Secratariat of the Pacific Community and the World Health Organisation have brought together more than 50 health professionals to tackle the issue.
