Charges pending for former French Polynesia leader

French Polynesia's veteran politican and former President, Gaston Flosse, looks set to be charged next week. Gaston Flosse is due to return from Paris with his lawyer to face charges for allegedly accepting $US2 million in kickbacks. Mr Flosse continues to protest his innocence.

In the latest development, investigators have arrested a technician employed by the Tahoeraa Huiraatira Party for allegedly destroying evidence relevant to the corruption probe.
