While the differences between the climate positions of several Pacific Small Island States and the larger Pacific Islands Forum was well known at the time in Cairns, its stark difference is only now really emerging in mainstream media. Australia Network's Pacific correspondent, Sean Dorney, explains why the seemingly huge gulf between climate change stances were ignored at the time, or not.
