Calls for Cook Islands youth to get involved in politics

The Speaker of Cook Islands' parliament says unless the culture of politics changes in the Cook Islands, many young people will shun political careers. Mapu Taia says one way of overcoming skepticism about politics among young Cook Islanders is to introduce a youth parliament in the country. He says an initiative which includes mentoring by parliamentarians, would improve understanding of parliament as well as attract quality candidates to Cook Island politics.
