Papua New Guinea's Post Courier Newspaper reported last week that asbestos, or fibro as it is widely known, is being used in renovating flats at a residential area in the Boroko suburb of the National Capital District. In just over 10 years, some 40,000 Australians will have contracted asbestos-related cancer which is now described as an epidemic of deaths from absestos-related illnesseses such as mesothelioma.

Matt Peacock has spent a good deal of his career investigating the use and abuse of asbestos in housing in Australia and elsewhere, and is familiar with the dangers of its use. His latest offering is a book called "Killer Company - James Hardie Exposed", and says the dangers of asbestos are very real.
