Three weeks ago the name Betty Babalu was relatively unknown . . . but this year's Pacific Mini Games has changed that. With two medals under her belt, the 12-year-old from the Solomon Islands has become a national celebrity. Running barefoot - Betty came first in the women's 5-thousand metres and then surprised the crowd again by coming second in the 10-metre event. Earlier I spoke to James Raerora, the deputy principal from Auki Primary School in Malaita province, where Betty is a student.
